Common Yellowthroat

I recently finished this oil painting of a Common Yellowthroat. Sorry I have no work in progress shots to share; this one went fairly quickly and the weather outside was uncooperative for photos along the way. I observed and photographed this guy last spring while birding at Cape May, NJ. He was hard to photograph because he was constantly moving through a thick marshy area. I followed him for quite awhile until finally my patience paid off and he posed out in the open on a reed. For my painting, I kept the background loose and simple to keep the focus on the bird.
