After many long hours at the easel this weekend, the Canvasback painting is finally done! Hope you enjoy it! Now, I need to come up with a title for it...any suggestions?

WIP: Another Canvasback Update

Work continues on the Canvasback piece. This is my progress as of yesterday. I've been concentrating on the water at the moment. I should have it all laid in by tomorrow. This kind of rippling water is a challenge to paint because it can look busy. I've been making an effort to simplify it and push it back. I don't want the water to be more interesting than the bird because I want the bird to be the main focus of the piece.

WIP: Canvasback Update

This is where I stand on the Canvasback...

I've started to roughly lay in his reflection and the ripples in the water...

...and I also refined the details on his head.

New WIP: Canvasback

Here's a sneak peek at my latest painting in progress... an elegant Canvasback drake. I started work on this yesterday. It is an oil and will measure out at 12x24 inches. I'm painting this for the the 27th Annual Oxford Fine Arts Fair on Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29, 2011 at the Oxford Community Center in Oxford, MD.
