New WIP: Oil Painting of Great Blue Heron

I started work on a new painting yesterday of a great blue heron. This piece is an oil and measures 9 x12. Not a whole lot to see right now; it's just loosely blocked-in. I observed this grumpy fellow on an overcast day at Chincoteague NWR last year. Great Blue's always appear mad or grumpy-looking to me. This one was especially so since the day was chilly and there was a cold wind whipping his feathers about.

Been out of the blog world the past few weeks getting the gallery all lined out for summer and a few trips. I see I have missed some great posts on your blog.
Great work.

Looks great already - love the light in the top right & the ripples on the water.

Très jolie peinture, remplie de poésie, de douceur de vie avec ce magnifique héron qui s'approprie parfaitement bien la nature.
J'aime beaucoup aussi les rides douces sur l'eau...
